If you are a If you are a spay/neuter vet or technician, we can connect you with our sister organizations on the islands listed below. Animal Balance has worked with these organizations in the past, when we sent large MASH teams prior to the pandemic. We hope to start our large MASH clinics again, but for now, our island partners can host single or 2 person vet/tech teams. Our island partners are our colleagues and our friends - this is a very special program.
We will connect you with a trusted island partner.
You will spay/neuter/vaccinate no less than 100 animals in one week.
You will cover your flights and your food, other than lunches at the clinic.
You will be representing Animal Balance and as such will follow our handbook code of conduct and SOPs.
*The only difference is that you will use the local organizations' anesthesia protocols. At this time, the US DEA is not allowing vets to use the humanitarian program to take controlled drugs from the US.*
You will have experience working in remote locations, in another culture, using protocols that you may not use at home.
You will also have an understanding of how to respectfully interact with another culture, and have special empathy for islands post pandemic.
You can have a vacation and help the local community with spay/neuter/vaccines.
The local partner will provide the supplies, clinic site and animals. They will meet you at the airport and show you around, provide your accommodation and if possible, a local vehicle to use.
This program commences in January 2023. The island partners will provide you with the dates.
