Born in Ambato, Ecuador, Dr. Edi is a veterinarian with over 12 years of experience in the field, with a special focus on population control surgery. Under the mentorship of Dr. Diego Barrera, Dr. Edi began learning about shelter medicine and spay/neuter programs for dogs and cats early in his veterinary studies.

Dr. Edi earned his Veterinary Medicine degree from the Technical University of Ambato. He later completed a Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine with a focus on Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Catholic University of Cuenca, where he deepened his expertise in surgical, analgesic, and anesthetic techniques for population control, particularly in dogs and cats.
Throughout his career, he has combined theoretical knowledge with extensive hands-on experience in implementing large-scale spay and neuter programs. His goal has been to manage animal overpopulation in various communities, significantly contributing to the reduction of zoonotic diseases and improving animal welfare.

Dr. Edi has worked in several prestigious veterinary clinics and has collaborated with animal health organizations at both national and international levels. In his daily practice, he has performed thousands of spay/neuter surgeries using high-volume techniques while maintaining a high standard of safety and animal care. His work has had a meaningful impact not only on controlling animal populations but also on educating and raising awareness in communities about the importance of sterilization as a vital tool to prevent overpopulation and enhance animal well-being.
Looking ahead, his vision is to continue collaborating with more institutions and communities to achieve more efficient and ethical approaches to animal population management
